A LITTLE PEEK INTO MY WORLD!

Sometimes my "crazy" isn't always found in the Rubber Room. For those of you who know me well, you know that when I get "inspired" I tend to talk very quickly and sort of stop only to take a deep breath and then rush on with more chatter and then I begin to jump from one topic to another.... and bless all of you have learned to adjust to my randomness and go with the flow.

However, when I get "emotional" I tend to respond by becoming very quiet. Even after 21 years of marriage, my "emotional" times scare the crap out of my husband, and he has no idea how to deal with them. Lucky for all of us, I have very few of those "emotional" days.

Today was an "emotional" day, and I feel very drained and tired and am heading off to bed about 3-4 hours earlier than usual for me. SO, I'm not going to post a card or stamped project tonight, but I will share a little story with you, and you will surely agree that I carry my Rubber Room with me all day, every day!

My husband and both of my boys share an extremely odd sense of humor that many of my friends find much funnier than I do, and when I'm done with this little story, I am sure you will think it's hilarious. I am telling you now, though, that this is not funny!

My youngest son is playing hockey at home this weekend, and I am very excited that I get to go and watch (five hockey games in two days is a lot of hockey for me, but I'm still excited). As my husband and I are sitting through our second hockey game of the evening tonight, my mind begins to wander and I start wondering if I have enough time to clean the Rubber Room before I go to bed, and then I can make all three games tomorrow morning and still have time to cook for a party I'm having at 1:00.... I get even quieter than I was; which scares my husband even more. AND he puts his arm around me (which almost brings me to tears, because he's just so romantic, and he's finally getting to know that I just need a little support and to know he's there.... he's scoring all kinds of points in my mind with that little maneuver).

THEN he looks at me and he says "Hey, did I ever tell you about the time I stayed up all night?" I respond with "What?" I truly should have known better and just said "You sure did, and I appreciate you sharing that with me". I guess you could say I asked for this. He says "Yeah, I got to thinking and I just couldn't figure out what happened to the sun at night, so I stayed up all night trying to figure it out and to watch and see what happened; and then it DAWNED on me". Seriously??? Everyone around us starts laughing, and I burst into tears!

I swear to you he is an intelligent man. He has a small private law practice; he's the adminstrator for the Legal Assistants Program at a Community College and he teaches legal courses (okay, so he couldn't decide what he wanted to be when he grew up, but still, he does have a brain that works)! I am convinced he simply leaves that brain in different spots at times~~like homework when the kids were young~~you know they have it, they have just left it in some random spot, so right now they don't know for sure where it is, what it's doing there, when/if it will return...

Remember, this is how both of my children behave also. At our dinner table they are cracking one another up, while I just shake my head in wonder and amazement!

I guess I live in a Rubber House~~and I probably wouldn't have it any other way!

Enjoy your evening and be thankful you are just a visitor in the Rubber Room ;o)
